Oh that’s right, this blog!
No, I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth.
No, I haven’t stopped writing.
Life just happened again, and I did some major paring down and focusing down to figure out what I wanted to work on. If I’m being perfectly honest, I kind of forgot about working on the blog. Don’t worry, there will still be stories here. Honestly one of the things that’s holding me up is that I’m waiting on a book of Yoruba myths. I wanted to expand outside of my usual majoratively germanic and norse myths for inspiration, and go to a source that I don’t really have any experience in. Non european and asian myths are definitely a weak point, so expect some coming up soon that will be based on some of those.
What else have I been doing? Honestly, a lot of painting. I’m going to be at the Fulton Street Collective’s monthly art market on August 15th here in Chicago, so if you get the chance come and say hi! Here are some of the pieces I’ve been working on recently.
I’ve been doing some commission work (No Talky Before Coffee) and a lot of just finishing projects that have been staring at me for months (the fire flower and Pretty Is Not The Rent especially). I’m a little frustrated that I haven’t been updating this blog, I’m not gonna lie, but honestly I’m finding a new balance and contentment with my work that I haven’t had before.
If you are a patron, there is a new episode of the Choose Your Own podcast (and if you aren’t a patron, go check it out by clicking here! You get access to a bunch of stuff for $1 per month!) and voting will be closing later this week on the decision that Angela has to make at the end of the episode, so make sure to cast your vote!
In the mean time, I’ll be working on getting more stuff up here, and actually finishing some of those stories that have been staring at me, just like those paintings.
